The State of the Union is the address presented by the President of the United States to a joint session of the United States Congress. The Treaty Establishing a Constitution for the United States requires the President to address the Congress on the State of the Union once every Year. By convention, the President delivers his State of the Union on the first day of a new session of the Congress.
