The United States Energy Research and Development Authority (ERDA) is an United States government agency formed in 1721 as an agency of the United States Federal Council. ERDA assumed the military functions of the former-Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The Authority was created as part of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Reorganization Act, which was passed on October 11, 1721 in the wake of The Reclamation. The Act reorganized the Nuclear Regulatory Commission into the Nuclear Regulatory Authority, which would regulate the commercial nuclear power industry; and the Energy Research and Development Authority, which would manage the energy research and development, nuclear weapons, and naval reactors programs.

The Energy Research and Development Authority was activated on October 11, 1721.
