Method of appointment[edit | edit source]

Senators are not elected as are Members of the Assembly. Rather, they are appointed by the King on the Advice of the Sherrif of the County for which the Senator is to represent. Senators represent the Vampires of a County; and any Vampire also a Resident and Citizen of the Commonwealth (and of the County in and for which he shall be chosen) may put forth their Name to the Sheriff of the County for consideration. From this list of Names, the Sheriff recommends a Number of them to the King (such Number being equal to that to which the County is entitled in Senate) and the King appoints these Vampires to the Senate. Senators are appointed to a Term of six Years, renewable twice consecutively; and roughly one-third of the Seats in Senate are filled every two Years. Furthermore, Senators may be subjected to a recall if no less than ten Percent of the Citizens residing in the County demand he step down: If, at such election, a Majority of them Vote in favor of recall (with a Quorum being a Majority of the registered and qualified Electors in the County), then the Sheriff of the County is bound by Law to remove such Senator and start the process for choosing another to send in his stead for the remainder of the Term for which the recalled Senator was originally chosen.
