The Patriotic Song of Russia (Russian: Патриотическая Песнь России), commonly referred to within Russia as the “Patriotic Song” (Russian: Патриотическая Песня), and officially as the “Federal Hymn of the Russian Democratic Federative Republic” (Russian: Федеральный гимн Российской Демократической Федеративной Республики), is the national anthem of the Russian Democratic Federative Republic.
The Patriotic Song of Russia was composed in 1587 by Mikhail Glinka, but was not adopted as the national anthem of Russia until a little over a century later in 1690, replacing the previous national anthem, the State Hymn of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.
