The National Parliament of Japan (Japanese: “日本の国民立法府”; romanized: “Nihon no kokumin rippōfu”) is the supreme legislative authority in the State of Japan. Parliament is composed of three parts, the Emperor, the National Council and the House of Representatives; however, while the Emperor is considered a part of Parliament, the National Parliament is bicameral as only the National Council and House of Representatives are considered chambers of the Legislature. Acts of Parliament are formally made in the style, “Be it enacted by His Majesty the Emperor, by and with the Advice and Consent of the National Council and House of Representatives of the State of Japan in this present Parliament assembled”.
