Mother Vale (Valois: Mère du Val) is the personification of the Vale, appearing in patriotic posters, statues etc. The usage of the term "mother" in reference to a nation or culture symbolizes the "spirit of collectivity". In Valois, the term Mère Patrie ("Mother Homeland") is preferred, as representing the multicultural Vale.
Background[edit | edit source]
Mother Vale is normally depicted as a powerful female warrior or valkyrie, frequently holding a spear and standing beside a direwolf or riding them. The popular image is considered to have been from oral traditions of the Montagnais people. As a patriotic symbol, Mother Vale gained widespread popularity during the Tiberium Wars, when anti-government activists used her image to promote aristocratic communalism.
