The Governor of the State of New Mexico is the head of state and head of government of the State of New Mexico, and the Commander-in-Chief of the New Mexico State Forces, the New Mexico State Police, and –in emergencies– the Commander-in-Chief of the various county Sherffs and municipal Police. The Governor is elected by the People of New Mexico to a Term of four Years, renewable once consecutively.
