Executive Department |
The Executive Cabinet of the State of Arizona is the senior-most council of the executive Department (branch) of the Arizona State Government, and is composed of the Governor and the principle Officer in each of the various executive Departments and Agencies of the State. The Executive is responsible for executing the laws of Arizona and the laws of the United States throughout the State, and for carrying on the day-to-day government (governance) of the State. As Arizona is organized under the presidential system, the Governor is both head of state and head of government, and, as such, he is both the chief public representative of the State and the head of the Executive. In addition, the Governor is also the commander-in-chief of the Arizona State Guard, the Arizona State Troopers, and, during emergencies and other extra-ordinary situations, the commander-in-chief of all county, municipal, and special-purpose Police forces in the State.
Under Arizona law, no Person, having been convicted under State law for Treason, Felony, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors, is eligible to any Office of Profit or Trust in Arizona or any Place subject to its Jurisdiction. This includes all elected Offices in Arizona at all Levels of Government in the State, from Local and County, to State and Federal[1], and all others in-between.
